FinOps teams now require FOCUS-conformant exports from every infrastructure line item to consolidate cost analysis. Why FOCUS matters for procurement
FinOps teams aggregate costs across cloud providers, SaaS subscriptions, and pipeline-tool consumption into a single cost-management view. FOCUS-conformant exports make that aggregation reliable. Vendors that export only proprietary CSVs force per-vendor mapping work and break monthly reconciliation.

How to test a vendor's export
Pull a sample billing export, run it through the FOCUS validator, and check that the required columns (BilledCost, EffectiveCost, BillingPeriodStart, BillingPeriodEnd, ChargeCategory, ServiceName) are present and populated. Vendors sometimes claim FOCUS support but omit EffectiveCost - the most important field for committed-use reconciliation.
